Amie has been
responsible for La Paz Group’s design and aesthetics
since co-founding the firm. An avid food historian and
researcher, Amie designs resort cuisine programs. This
includes menu design and kitchen training, and a
concerted effort to develop long term relationships with
local farming enterprises to provide organic produce and
meats, and with artisanal fishermen to provide local
fish. Amie has developed programs for guests to
experience work with local farmers and fishermen, in
order to understand their lives and livelihoods: this
includes olive harvesting, olive oil
production, grape harvesting, wine making, and other
local food traditions.
Prior to co-founding La Paz Group she was a manager with
the home furnishings design company
MacKenzie-Childs,
Ltd. There she was responsible for custom painted
furniture production. This followed her career as editor
for Toronto Star Corporation in their New York book
publishing offices. A native of Alaska, in addition to
her native English she speaks Spanish, and is a graduate
of New York University’s School of Arts. |
