La Paz Group was contracted for this USAID-sponsored Competitiveness Initiative to work with tourism communities in the central coast and islands region. The collaboration resulted in the crafting of a sustainable tourism development strategy, and introduced sustainability evaluation systems across this region. At a time when Croatia experienced pressure to open its coastal areas to large scale resort development, La Paz Group worked with stakeholders to determine a compromise in the pace and scale of development so that small and medium sized enterprises were well prepared to compete in the new competitive dynamics of the market.
