Taylor started
his career on a fishing boat in the Bering Sea, and
since then has been active in education, conservation,
entrepreneurship and travel. After graduate studies
in Environmental and Natural Resource Policy and
working at the United States Environmental Protection
Agency as a research analyst, he completed masters
degrees in Liberal Arts from St. John’s College and in
European History from the University of Massachusetts.
While in graduate school Taylor worked as a freelance
writer of travel articles for Backpacker, The Christian
Science Monitor, Ford Times, Winds: The In-flight
Magazine of Japan Airlines, Explore and other
publications. He then spent several years teaching at
schools emphasizing experiential education through
travel and outdoor experiences.
Since
2001 Taylor has focused on entrepreneurial ventures,
founding Teen Jive Magazine, Harp Dog Office Products,
and HG Investments. Recently, he has begun work on
establishing a charitable foundation, The HG Charitable
Foundation, whose mission will be to help fund conservation
efforts worldwide. Taylor has also worked as an account
executive for Colorado Springs’ local independent newspaper,
The Independent, helping local businesses market their
products and services across the community. Currently Taylor
works with Friends of Cheyenne Canyon and is a member of the
Sierra Club, the Nature Conservancy and Colorado Springs
Search and Rescue. In addition to his time in the
United States he has lived in Japan, Switzerland,
France and French Polynesia. |
