Emilio has more than 20 years of hospitality and real estate experience in North America, central and South America, and the Caribbean. He has assisted developers, operators, investors, lenders, and governments in the area of real estate, hospitality, tourism, and other leisure related industries. His advisory assignments have included strategic planning and cash flow analysis for a proposed joint venture in Mexico involving a diverse portfolio of Grupo Posadas-managed properties:assisting Lowes in their decision- making related to expansion in Mexico.;analysis of the proposed acquisition of the Ritz Carlton San Juan;assisting Host Marriott with their investment decision- making process related to the JW Marriott Mexico City; managing the strategic marketing alliance between Viva Resorts and Wyndham Hotels and Resorts ;and multiple market analysis for home builder Centex to expand its business into Mexico and other countries in Latin America.

Prior to joining La Paz Group Emilio was a Director with Alvarez &Marsal for three years, and before that served as a real estate and hospitality consultant for Ernst &Young and PricewaterhouseCoopers. He also has general management and a full range of operations management experience with leading hotel and resort companies, such as Hyatt Hotels, Divi Resorts, Continental Plaza Hotels and Resorts and Jack Tar village.

Emilio earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Instituto Superior de Estudios Comerciales (ISEC) in Mexico city and earned his Master’s degree in hospitality management at Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration. He is a member of the Cornell Hotel Society and regional director for the Mexico &Central America chapters as well as the U.S./Mexico Chamber of Commerce.
