Eric has been
an entrepreneur and consultant in tourism and
hospitality for the past four years based in Bahia,
Brazil. During this period, the projects he has been
responsible for include: coordination and development
planning for All Saints Bay Nautical Park; planning,
development, and implementation of turnkey operations
for a nature park with a US$1M investment, as well
establishing the park’s concept of linking on-site
community-based handicraft production to pre-Colombian
artifacts and traditions; carrying out market and
operational feasibility studies and preparation of bid
proposals for a US$3M boutique hotel spa and a separate
200-hectare nature park; launching a local inbound tour
operator; securing and utilizing US$100K in financing
for a speedboat and outrigger canoes; creating and
implementing occupancy and revenue forecasting tools for
hotels in the local market; carrying out organizational
development consulting for 4 local tour operators,
identifying opportunities and providing solutions for
increasing operational/administrative performance;
partnering with a U.S.-based company on a proposal to
structure and raise capital for a US$100M port
infrastructure project.
Prior to this Eric was operations manager for the Parque
Xel-Ha in Quintana Roo, Mexico, responsible for managing
the budgeting, planning, reporting, and administration
of the recreation department, with US $4 million in
annual revenue and 65 employees. In this position he
also created the park’s forecasting tool, allowing
management to calculate daily park visitation and
operational flow. Prior to this Eric worked in
operations and analytical positions for hotels in Spain
and Costa Rica. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Hotel
Administration from Cornell University, and is the
author of the novel The Costa Rican Dream. In addition
to his native English, he speaks Spanish and Portuguese
fluently and is conversant in French. |
